High Fired Art Process

High fire electric firings (heated above 2300°F) yield incredible vibrant colors and lend itself to conscientious glaze application. Alison enjoys utilizing different distinct glazing techniques such as hand painting many layers of under glaze and actually drawing her own artwork upon her clay pieces.

Pieces which have Alison’s Mixed Media artwork drawn upon them elevate her clay work to include canvas style art on functional forms. Her High Fired Art is more utilitarian in application, as the functional pieces are dishwasher and oven safe.
